Fire Guts Yarmouth County Home

Firefighters from the Yarmouth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at Civic #1760 Main Shore Road in Sanford, Yarmouth County on Mon., Feb. 09th. The 911 call was received from a female occupant of the house at 10:08 am. The lone occupant had already left the building upon the arrival of Engine #4 and heavy smoke was reported. A second page was made for a working structure fire. Tankers 20 & 22 along with Rescue/Command Unit #14 and Unit #27 responded. At the request of Platoon Chief a page was made to the Port Maitland Volunteer Fire Department for tanker assistance. Although firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire the residence suffered extensive fire and smoke damage. A family cat was lost in the fire. Firefighters were back in quarters at 12:14 pm. Although deemed accidental the cause has not been released as of this writing.
