MVA Sends 3 People to Hospital



A 2 vehicle accident on the Greenville Road, Yarmouth County, sent 3 people to hospital with undetermined but non-life threatening injuries. Yarmouth firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 5:00pm on Sunday, July 19th. Engine 2, Rescue 14 & Unit 27 responded. Upon arrival of Engine 2, Platoon Chief Steve Jeffery confirmed the need for the Jaws to extricate at least one of the victims. EHS Paramedics had already removed the driver of one of the vehicles. Firefighters immediately set about extricating the driver of the second vehicle while other firefighters assisted paramedics with the removal of the passenger of the first vehicle. All victims were conscious and alert when transported to Yarmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries.



This was the second motor vehicle accident in this area in just over a week. The first accident occurred at the intersection of the Hardscratch Rd. & the Greenville Rd. approximately ¼ mile from the above scene. The accident occurred when one vehicle crossed the intersection into the path of an on coming car. Both cars were forced off the road and extensively damaged. Engine 4, Rescue 14 & Unit 27 responded. Although extrication was not required firefighters remained on scene assisting with traffic control. EHS also responded with 4 ambulances. A total of 7 victims, 5 adults and 2 small children, were transported to Yarmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
